The Justice Law and Order Sector and Development Partners Group (DPG) have embarked on joint monitoring visits to selected JLOS institutions.
A multi-stakeholder engagement was on March 1, 2018 held at Judicial Service Commission (JSC) involving various institutions that have a direct bearing on the anti-corruption discourse in JLOS.
The Judiciary was represented by Registrars HW Tom Chemutai (Supreme Court), HW Fred Waninda (Planning & Development), Dr. Immaculate Busingye (Inspectorate) and HW Susan Kanyange (Anti -Corruption Division).
Other participants included representatives from other JLOS institutions such as Uganda Police Force, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Law Development Centre, among others.
Earlier, the DPG had a dialogue with the JSC and staff on performance, achievements, challenges, and remedial action.
In a presentation made to the stakeholders, the chairperson of the Commission, Hon. Justice Benjamin Kabiito, said "...shortage of financial, human and physical resources has affected the performance of the Commission."
He further pointed out that the Commission has not been able to structure capacity-building programmes to enhance the productivity and quality of judicial services.
The exercise is being held under the theme, "Strengthening the Sector's Fight Against Corruption."
The essence of the monitoring is to better understand the working terrain and contextual realities in these areas.
